NEWT received three wireless links to be used in a project in collaboration with UC Berkley. The links have a range of over 50 Km. The links will be used to create ad-hoc networks across the university campus as well as the city.

The researchers were thrilled (as is obvious from pictures) and quickly went about setting up the devices. So the next couple of hours, the students on campus witnessed a group of geeks wandering in campus with shield like objects and yelling in a mic to some unknown entity :)
